Copy whole models (including net parameters)
- New functions available in the project explorer to copy and paste whole models
- Select a model from the project explorer and use the context menu item “Copy model” to copy the desired model including its net parameters to the Windows clipboard.
- You can now use the context menu of the ‘Models’ folder to paste the model from the Windows clipboard to your current or to a new project.
Usability Improvements
- Result summary views are expanded and result details views are collapsed by default after a calculation.
- When calculating a selected partial model or individual processes, GWP data (CO2 rucksacks) stored in intermediate products are not taken into account. This can be changed in the options under “Calculation”.
Bug fixes
- Fixed problem with automatic scaling in Windows for high screen resolutions (Ultra HD/4K).
- ‘Allocations’ grid in the process specification now displays correct basic unit.

Release Notes for Umberto NXT MFCA 7.1.13.413
Performance Improvements
- Switching between models
- Opening and closing models
- Switching Sankey diagram on and off
- Scrolling and moving within the editor is much smoother
- The performance of the editor can be improved with a new project option to limit the number of Sankey flows (options dialog: Editor | Sankey Flows):
Process Input/Output Balance
It is now possible to check your processes for input/output imbalances. This option can be enabled in the options dialog in the ‘Editor’ tab.
By default the balance check is enabled for MFCA and the unit type ‘Mass’. You can disable this option or switch to balance checks for all unit types. After selecting the desired option, you need to click the “Refresh Process Hints” button in the editor toolbar.
After having refreshed the process hints a yellow warning sign will appear if imbalances have been detected. Hover over the warning sign to see a tooltip with the detailed imbalance warnings.
Usability Improvements
- Converting a process to User Defined Functions (UDF) will auto generate linear functions in the script based on the coefficients of the existing linear specification as default starting point.
- The calculation of a model can be resetted via the model’s context menu without the need to open it.
- All result view tables are now collapsed by default after a calculation.
Bug fixes
- Fixed exception when calculating models with undefined coefficient values
- Added hint in “Select Source of Sankey Diagram” view when Sankey diagram is turned off
- Unit column in UDF processes is editable again

Release Notes for Umberto NXT MFCA 7.1.13.345
Introduced ecoinvent 3.2 GWP database to calculate carbon footprints based on up-to-date ecoinvent 3.2 data
- Contains assessed elementary and intermediate exchanges from the ecoinvent 3.2 database as materials.
- Exchanges are assessed with (aggregated) GWP 100a factors from the IPCC 2013 impact assessment method.
- Different from ecoinvent 2.2, intermediate exchanges are not regionalized but provide general assessment factors mostly based on global market data from the ecoinvent 3.2 default system model ‘allocation, cut-off’.
- This further simplifies the creation of carbon footprint models as well as their re-use in LCA studies performed with larger versions of Umberto NXT (LCA and Universal).
- The ecoinvent 3.2 GWP database is available for customers with a valid ecoinvent 3.2 license.
- For a quote on a dedicated ecoinvent 3.2 GWP database license, please contact Umberto Customer Care.
- The content of the ecoinvent 3.2 GWP database is further explained here.
Export Inventory Data
- New function to export all stock and material flow data from selected net to Microsoft Excel.
- Available in the ‘raw data export’ drop down menu on the ‘inventories’ tabsheet.
Usability enhancements
- ‘Find Usages’ of materials: Double click on entry in dialog selects the corresponding net element in the editor.
- Allowed to move the progress dialog out of the way on the Windows desktop.
New installer
- Hint: Non-default installation path can now be changed via ‘Options’ button.
- Modernized installer user interface.
- For a detailed description of the installation, see here.
Performance improvements
- Accelerated editing coefficients in grids.
- Accelerated working with many live links.
- Accelerated paste and delete operations, especially in large models.
- Accelerated opening the ‘Add Material’ dialog.
- Switched to Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6 to significantly improve memory consumption and facilitate further performance improvements.
- Not every problem could be solved, but we will keep at it!
Bugfixes
- Create backup and better inform user when opening / converting project from other Umberto version (e.g. Umberto NXT Efficiency).
- Fixed display of live links for manual flows.
- Orthogonal option for arrows.
- Copy and paste of modules.
- Zero-flows visible in sankey arrow heads.
